Pinhole Photography For Wellbeing

A social prescribing project in Enfield

Over 100 people in Enfield took part in pinhole photography workshops aimed at enhancing their wellbeing. The workshops, held at the Dugdale Arts Centre in Enfield Town and Fore Street Library in Upper Edmonton, were designed to tackle social isolation and support mental health. Participants learned traditional photography techniques and created their own images using upcycled pinhole cameras and a mobile darkroom. A total of 143 pinhole photographs were produced throughout the programme, fostering creativity and connection within the local community.

The people, fun and ease of taking photos learning about the camera obscura. Brilliant hosts Ben and Selene - Workshop participant, Fore Street Library

The last time I did a photography workshop was at secondary school 37 years ago! This was interesting, different, and nostalgic - Workshop participant

I liked the wellbeing aspect, the non-digital photography, meeting other people, and the laid-back atmosphere and friendliness – Workshop participant, Dugdale Arts Centre
